I was asked by Men’s Health to create an image that would illustrate this feature article on allergies and how cloudy one’s head becomes during an allergic reaction. Creating the cloud around the subjects head was a difficult task but Jeanne was excited to try and make this happen… the cloud of smoke was not accomplished in post production… we were able to do this all in camera.

Once again Jeanne, thank you for trusting me to make this happen for you. model: Chris Ryan, Grooming: Andi Daniel, Shot at Sun West Studios

This was my first shoot with photo editor Lizzy Oppenheimer of Marie Claire.  I was asked to illustrate the power of giving and the good it does for those less fortunate. Lizzy suggested we think about the Sistine Chapel…we used the “Creation of Adam” by Michelangelo as the inspiration.

Photo editor Michelle Stark of Men’s Health magazine asked me to create this image illustrating a story about the drugs doctors will happily prescribe but would never take themselves because they either do nothing or are simply bad for you.

Food Is Getting Weaker

January 11, 2012

I was asked by creative director Warren Mason / Muscle and Fitness magazine to shoot this apple and have it deflate to illustrate that some of the produce you are consuming may not be as healthy as you think.  Deflating the apple proved to be a real dilemma but with the help of inflatable objects and photoshop we were able to pull it off. Thank you Max Miller for helping me solve this.

Photo director Jeanne Graves asked me to shoot a story on the chemicals used to create the perfectly green manicured lawns we see in suburbia and its affect on our environment, our children and even our pets.  Very interesting article ! Thanks to Sarah Wacksman of Jed Root for her patience and great prop styling.

Hooked – Soft Addiction

January 7, 2011

For a recent conceptual editorial shoot, we were asked to create images that sublty referenced the “soft addictions” we currently face in our daily lives. Whether it be caffeine, candy, late-night eating, or text messaging, these addictions, while seemingly harmless, can become a hinderance on our daily lives; draining us both emotionally and physically.

Money Magazine asked me to create conceptual images that illustrated the financial traps of credit cards, the returning incentives of stock-portfolio diversification, and the decreasing lucrativeness of buying in today’s housing market. To create the “Melting House” image depicting the current state of the real estate market we used the talented ice sculptor Brian Byrne.
For the “Financial Traps” image of the mouse trap I asked the amazing Megan Caponetto to create this for me as well as the crayon image depicting stock portfolio diversification.

Bill was commissioned to shoot a recent story for Self Magazine on how more women are surgically altering their feet to fit into designer shoes.  Once Bill read the story, he discussed concepts with Cindy Searight and Jean Jarvis. In the end, the images shown below are a direct result of the trust between a creative director and a photographer. Cindy trusted Bill to go make the pictures that would tell the story…
